Praying for Elizabeth

Elizabeth celebrated her 2 month birthday last week. She is such a sweet baby. Everyone says she looks likes Caroline. The posts contains a prayer request. Elizabeth has been suffering greatly from acid reflux. As with all our babies GERD plays a great distress in feeding, but she seems to be suffering the worst. We are using all the medical knowledge available with special formula, rice cereal, Previcid, mylanta, frequent feedings and burpings, but she has only been able to keep down about 1 bottle a day. We will keep you posted on her progress and appreciate your prayers with his concern.

Gaslight Festival

This weekend we loaded up the clan for a fun festival filled day. It is hard not to have a good time when a fried funnel cake is involved. Everyone had a good time, but I think William and Caroline enjoyed it the most. It seemed every vendor had some type of treat for a child. William was a walking advertisement with his t-shirt full of campaign stickers from every political party. Caroline liked digging through the candy dishes. Anne-Marie got enough pencils for our entire family for the next 10 years. Alden rode (since he still isn't walking) happy in the stroller with his yellow blanket and even enjoyed a cat-nap. Elizabeth was the family highlight with everyone wanting to know how old she was. Jason enjoyed watching the senior citizens square dance. I have seen an old record player in a long time. The man even sang the motions..."Bow to your partner..." We ate some healthy carnival food: hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, and of course no festival would be complete without a funnel cake. Jason let the kids lick their fingers in the empty plate of confectioners sugar. I am sure the germs made it taste extra good. We finished the day with the baseball speed contest. The player received 2 throws of a baseball and then had to guess the speed of the third throw. Jason won a baseball, but William quickly took ownership of it. The only problem with a family our size attending a public festival is crowd control. I know understand why parents put leashes on their children.

Our Irish Twins

Our Irish Twins are getting bigger every day. Alden isn't walking yet, but at least we are making some progress with standing. Church members have labeled him "baby Hercules" and "the man-child" because he is so heavy to carry. During family worship Caroline prays that he will walk soon. Today we are celebrating Elizabeth's 8 week birthday. She has been such a delight to our family. Here are some pictures Caroline and William helped me take of her this morning. Alden got a little jealous of Elizabeth's spotlight, so he hammed it up for the camera too!

Labor Day Fun.

Alden enjoying his siblings' leftover lunch

Elizabeth 6 weeks old

Anne-Marie took the following pictures...

"Explorin" was the word for Labor Day! After a pancake and french toast breakfast, Jason had the kids excited for a day of "Exploring!" William had a zoo map. Caroline had a brochure for mountain cabins. All the kids (that can talk) anticipated where dad would take them for a day of exploration. William kept asking where the "jungle" was. Jason headed towards Spencer County where we landed at the campground at Taylorsville Lake. We found a nice shade tree with a playground nearby where the kids greatly enjoyed a picnic lunch and fun on the swings, slides and monkey bars. Alden enjoyed every one's lunch leftovers on the picnic blanket (as you can see). The girls enjoyed seeing some horses. It was a long drive for a shade tree and playground, but the family had a good time together "explorin" along the way.

Elizabeth is growing rapidly and unfortunately is suffering from a cold and acid reflux. She is now sleeping some 7-10 hours at night so that is both a blessing and answered prayer.
